PHS/EHD has the following comments for your
consideration.
Two requests were made within the above mentioned report. The fust request is that the sampling of
monitoring wells MW-2, MW-3, MW-5, MW-6 and MW-9 be suspended. The frequency of sampling these
wells, with the exception of MW-9, may be reduced to semi-annually. With regard to MW-9, since access
is obstructed, sampling may be suspended until closure verification. Quarterly measurements of
groundwater elevation should continue for all monitoring wells.
The second request is that monitoring wells MW-11) and MW-1S be decommissioned. The groundwater
gradient has been consistently to the southeast. However, the gradient has been recently reported, after
resurveying, to the northwest. PHS/EHD does not recommend the decommission of these wells at this
time. If a decision is made to retain use of these wells, the sampling frequency of one well may be
reduced to semi-annual and the frequency of the other well may be suspended until closure verification
sampling.
If you have any comments or questions regarding this letter, please contact Mary Meays, REHS, of my
staff at (209) 468-0337.
reg=
.D., M.P.H.
a, RENS, Program anger
Health Division
c: Elizabeth Thayer, CVRWQCB
c: Steve Fumas,WHF Environmental
A Division of San Joaquin County Health raze Services
