Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
UNION ICE, 1320 WEST WEBER STREET, STOCKTON, SAH JOAQUIN COUNTY
I have reviewed the file for the Union Ice site on Weber Street in Stockton.
I also reviewed the recent report, "Phase II - Report of Findings", dated
28 May 1991, prepared by WHF Environmental and Henkle & Associates. Based on
analytical results showing non-detectable levels of contaminants in all wells
since April 1991, WHF and Henkle have recommended several soil borings to
delineate soil contamination and another year of quarterly ground water
monitoring to be followed by closure if all samples are non-detectable.
The following information is missing from our files:
1. A Work Plan dated 15 June 1990 by WHF and Henkle;
2. Well logs for monitoring wells MW-1S, MW-ID, and MW-6S, installed by
URS, the previous consultant; and
3. The results of the soil vapor survey. The 28 May 1991 report states
that the vapor survey was done in May 1990 and the results submitted in
a report to San Joaquin County in June 1990. In our file, the "Report
of Findings - Phase I" , dated 14 June 1990, did not contain the soil
vapor survey results.
In February 1991, two new wells were installed. The 28 May 1991 report
contained different and confusing names for the two wells as follows:
PAGE # OR LOCATION NAME
Page 1 "extraction well (XW-8)1I ,
''monitoring well (MW-9)"
Page 7 "Monitor well EX-8"
Page 9 I1MW--8"
Page 10 and 11 11EW-81', "MW-9", "Wells 8S Md 9S'I
