Union Ice - 3 - $ 30 July 1991
3r
a depth of about 15 feet but no samples wre collected at that depth. €}
i However, the boring logs for both MW=4S and MW 4g indicated soil I
saturated with gasoline at about 16 feet. !! The; northern extension of the
excavation runs along the west side of the wells but not on the eastern
side. Soli/ground water contamination may remain below 15 feet and to
the east of MW-4S and MW-44 yet no borings were proposed for the area.
My recommendations are as follows: `
1. Require that Union Ice submit the missing ;reporFts and information to the
Regional Board;
2. Request further explanation of „the problems and questions noted above;
3. Require monthly ground water elevation measurements, quarterly ground
water sampling and analysis, and quarterly! subm;',ittal of monitoring
reports; and ,, 9
4. Approve borings as proposed but request additional borings east of MW-4S
and MW-4D.
Once additional information is- available, it may' be more apparent if a
recommendation for abandonment of MW-4S and MW-4D sho'uld be made.
