Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95205 ;' JUN 67 9900
RE: Union Ice Located at 1320 Weber Street in Stockton ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
a
PER.MIUSERVICES
Dear Darlene,
This letter is a request to perform a soil vapor survey at,the Union Ice site. We
have enclosed a summary of soil samples taken during the drilling of the monitoring
wells. As you can see, only 4S and 4D show signs of contamination in the soil. We
expected this, as both of those wells are in the area of they tank excavation. One of our
reasons for requesting the soil vapor study is to identify the lateral extent of
contamination. We now know where the contamination its not located in the soil, we
would like to determine the full lateral extent so that we can size our re-excavation
plan.
I have included groundwater sample data for your)review. As we discussed on
the telephone, I believe the people who developed and sampled',the groundwater the
first time contaminated the wells with their equipment. Another round of sampling was
performed by the same company, with mixed results again. I finally hired another
company to redevelop and sample for the final time. I will be happy to discuss all
results with you when you have the time. I am sure you will agree with my
conclusions, that the first two sample rounds are the result of improper sampling
techniques. We look forward to your approval of this survey and thank you for your
help.
Sincerely,'
Steve Fdrnas, R.E.A.
NNW ENVIItONMENTAL CONSULTANTS, INC.
,t
SJF:dmc 7
a
