Sierra Pacific is leasing the buildings from Union Ice. The
site is located on San Joaquin County APN 145-190-13. In 1988, four underground
storage tanks were removed and soil samples were collected from beneath the tanks. Free
product was observed floating in the tank pit excavation. Between August 1989 and
February 1991, monitoring wells were installed to investigate the extent of the
groundwater contamination; two deep and nine shallow wells were installed. In 1990 a
soil gas survey was conducted to evaluate the extent of soil contamination. In February
1991, approximately 800 cubic yards of soil was excavated and treated on site with
residual soil contamination evidenced following the excavation attempt. In March 1992
eight soil borings were drilled (8X1 - 13X8) to determine the extent of soil contamination.
In February 1993, in order to investigate a possible brine leak associated with the
operation of the refrigeration system used in one of the warehouses, three monitoring wells
were installed, MW10 - MW12. In March 1993, 2,000 cubic yards of soil was excavated
and treated on site. Groundwater monitoring occurred throughout most of the
investigation and remediation activities.
1988
12/22/88 Four underground storage tanks are removed and soil samples collected.
Tank Summary
Tank ID Tank Size/Contents Date Removed Sample ID Date
(gallons) Samples Collected BTEX/TPH
Analysis
Completed
2357-01 4,0OOIDiesel 12/22/88 1 A-East11 A-West 1114189
2357-02 4,000/Diesel 12/22/88 2A-East/2A-West 1114189
2357-03 1,000/Unleaded gas 12/22/88 #3 1114189
1283-01 E37,000/Unleaded gas 1 12.22/88 113-South/113-North 1114/89
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
