UNION ICE COMPANY
1320 West Weber Avenue
Stockton, Cahfornw
I Quarterly Sampling Report - January, 1992
Site Code ##1283
NARRATIVE
This narrative encompasses the normal Quarterly Ground Water Monitoring activities at
the Union Ice Facility at 1320 W Weber Avenue in Stockton, California
In addition, we are addressing the discussion items that were discussed in a meeting
with San Joaquin County Environmental Health officials (County), Union Ice Company
and WHF Environmental Consultants, Inc (WHF)
All wells associated with this site were "none detected" in the January sampling round
All wells were sampled for TPH gasoline (LUFT) procedures and for Benzene, Xylene,
Toluene and Ethyl Benzene (EPA method 602)
Well #9 was not sampled in the January round as one of the tenants of Union Ice has a
mobile office parked on top of the well
On February 24, 1992, all of the monitoring wells were resurveyed, except MW-9,
which has a trailer parked on top of it Several of the wells' christy boxes were
destroyed by the truck traffic on the site They had to be cut down to ground level and
had new christy boxes installed The surveyor's notes are included in this report
The first of the discussion items we would like to discuss is ground water sampling We
have enclosed, in this report, several maps indicating ground water gradient These
gradients are consistently to the south and southeast, including hourly measuring period
taken in April of 1990 (Appendix C) The current gradient is still to the southeast, but
also flows in the northwest direction, which may indicate a drawdown in the aquifer in
that direction The hourly gradients taken in 1990 show a consistent gradient to the
southeast, with a slight shift in the gradient, possibly caused by the tides
In addition, the soils contamination area was in the area of Wells 4S and 4D We have
Wells 7, 8 and 9 in a down gradient location from the former contamination
