1 <br /> 1 <br /> Union Ice Company <br /> 1320 Weber Avenue, Stockton, California <br /> 1 <br /> Phase IV Remediation Report of Findings <br /> 1 <br />' 1.0 Project Identification <br /> WHF Environmental Consultants was authorized by Union Ice Company to continue Phase III <br />' re-excavation and Phase IV remediation activities at 1320 West Weber Avenue in Stockton, <br /> California <br /> 2,0 Site Description and History <br /> .Y <br /> The Union Ice Company ("UIC") owns and operates an ice manufacturing and cold frozen <br /> storage warehouse facility at 1320 Weber Street, in Stockton, California (Figure 1) The <br /> facility is nearly surrounded by the Stockton Deep Water Channel and Mormon Slough Four <br /> (4)underground tanks were removed from this facility in December of 1988 <br />' In March of 1989, URS Consultants was retained by Union Ice Company to perform a <br /> remedial investigation Their work plan was designed to investigate the lateral and vertical <br /> extent of gasoline contamination of groundwater at the site, along with the implementation of <br /> remedial measures Three of these wells, MW-ID, MW-IS, and MW-6S were completed on <br /> August 28, 1989 At that time, the decision was made by Union Ice Company to suspend the <br /> investigation and resume at a later date <br /> Six (6) additional monitoring wells were installed in order to investigate the vertical and lateral <br /> extent of gasoline contamination in the soils and groundwater beneath the site MW-2S, 3S, <br /> 4S, 5S, and 6S tested the soils within the vadose zone, as well as the first aquifer MW-4D <br /> tested the second aquifer and lower soils zone, and is a double-cased well <br /> In May of 1990, a 31 point soil vapor survey was conducted at the site Soil gasses were <br /> analyzed for methane content and for gasoline equivalent The soil vapor survey showed that <br /> hydrocarbon vapors in the soil were present in an elongated concentration configuration This <br /> configuration was elongated in the direction of the groundwater flow direction Results of the <br /> soil vapor survey were reported to San Joaquin County Department of Health in our report of <br /> June, 1990 <br /> In February of 1991, a remedial excavation of about 2,000 cubic yards of petroleum <br /> contaminated soils was undertaken in addition to this excavation, an extraction well (MW-8) <br /> and a down gradient monitoring well (MW-9)were installed into the first aquifer <br />
