LCh1YYCJ1 Y14
09/02 100 WED 13:29 FAX 19259469968 ,j
1 '
P AGE 4
E
Land Use
3i
The 1325 and 1515 West Weber properties are located in an industrial area .
of Stockton,California. Both properties have historically been used for
industrial purposes and both are zoned for heavy industrial use. ERM is
not aware of any plans to change the zoning of these properties in the
foreseeable future.
Soil
Based on land use information for the subject properties and+the absence
E of residual soil constituents in surface soils, there is little or no
opportunity for exposure to residual soil constituents under"Conditions
associated with the industrial use of these sites. Specific points regarding
potential exposure are noted below:
• Because residual soil constituents are confined to the subsurface,
industrial workers at the subject properties are unlikely to be eirposed
to soil constituents via direct contact(i.e., incidental ingestion and
dermal contact).
• Similarly, because soil constituents are confined to depth, industrial
workers are unlikely to be exposed to residual soil constituents Evia the
inhalation of fugitive dust.
• Only isolated detections of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)3 are
present in subsurface soils. Because of the very limited detections, the
migration of these compounds from soil into air is not expected to
represent a significant exposure pathway for industrial workers.
i
However, construction workers or others involved in intrusive subsurface
'4 activities at the site may be exposed to residual constituents in subsurface
f soils. Under this scenario, exposure may occur via the following routes:
• Incidental ingestion.
e Dermal contact. '
3m
• Inhalation of VOCs released from soils that are exposed during;
excavation or other intrusive activities. ' l
1
„ s
a VOCs detected in soil include the aromatic hydrocarbons benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene,and xylenes.
i
