Herein we report our
findings,
a
.mary
.,_ Samples collected in the field,both below the tank site and immediately
hydraulically downgradient, indicated that gasoline and gasoline-derived
t.% compounds are present in the soils and groundwater: Laboratory reported
f p findings are:
k ; • Total Volatile Hydrocarbons (gasoline) are below 10 ppm in the soils and
below 20 ppm in the groundwater;
t:r • Total BTE&X are below 2.5 ppm in the soils and below 4.6 ppm in the
groundwater;
Organic derived lead was not discovered either in the soils or in the
groundwater.
Detailed laboratory findings are summarized in Table 1.
The tank site was found to be underlain by two soils types. From the ground
surface to a depth of approximately ten feet,the soils consist of semi-
consolidated silt and silty clay. Below 10 feet and to the depth explored(30
feet), the soils consist of unconsolidated sand.
r ' Groundwater was encountered in the borings at a depth of approximately 6
112 feet. 'Measurement of water levels in the pre-existing wells and in the
new wells indicated a similar depth to water.
