FROM. : DAUE THOMPSON REMAX FAX NO. : 209 599 1560 Tan. 31 2003 11:56AM P1/3
January 31, 2002
To: Leanne Mueller
San Joaquin County Community Development Department
From; Dave Thompson
Re: Signed Petition Asking Planning Commission to
DENY SITE APPROVAL NO. PA-02-625
Leanne,
In the list you provided of property owners within 1400 feet of the Old German Baptist
Church, it breaks out to 32 different property owners (some own multiple properties).
Of which, 1 is the church, 1 has moved, & 6 don't reside on their properties. Of the
remaining 24 property owners, 21 have signed the petition asking the planning
commission to DENY SITE APPROVAL NO. PA-02-625, I abstained, and 2 were not
reached. I will be obtaining 1 more signature this afternoon(of the 21 referenced). She
has given her verbal response and will be available later for signing.
The neighborhood has met together and formed a response to be presented at the Planning
Commission meeting February 6"'. We have also raised money in pledges in the amount of
$5,025 (pledges still coming in). This money would be to offset any costs the VFW may
have incurred in pursuing this property_ The pledge to be honored if the VFW rescinds
their offer on the property prior to the planning commission meeting_ It is in appreciation
to the services the VFW has provided to our country, our community and in rescinding
their offer, consideration given to our neighborhood.
A church has written a back-up offer on this existing church site. As you are probably
aware, it is very hard to find existing churches available for purchase. They also have
offered the VFW $25,000 if they rescind their offer on the Old German Baptist Church_
In a meeting I had with Don Moyer on Wednesday, I asked him to communicate to the
VFW Post these proposals along with my offer to work pro Bono in helping them find a
more suitable location.
We are striving to assist the veterans in achieving their goals, but we in this country
neighborhood have many concerns and issues we believe will be created in approving this
site approval.
Regards,
Dave Thompson
