FS\/F
JAN ' 7 2003
corrmunity ueve!opn1eRr ue tVan Till, Joyce TR.
p_ 24010 S. Olive
Ripon, Ca. 95366
Jan. 2,2003
San Joaquin County
Community Development Department
Development Services Division
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
Leanne Mueller(contact person)
Regarding Application number PA-0200625(SA)
I am a"veteran"property owner. These acres have been in our family for many years,
and long before the Old German Baptist Church was built. It is disappointing to learn of a
possible liquor place next to our homes, orchards, and families! None of us were notified that a
text amendment was in the works for the whole county, just because the Veterans of Foreign
Wars wanted this site and had been denied prior approval due to rules or ordinances already in
effect in the county. I was in attendance at the meeting of the county Supervisors and it basically
was already a done deal. We heard about this meeting by personal calls to the Planning
Commission Office asking for information about an article that was published in the Ripon
Record. (I am enclosing a copy of this article.)Never were the county or we informed of this
planned "text amendment ". Is this the way our county makes changes?
We do not want a place where liquor is served daily in our neighborhood!! Yes,the VFW
does and has done a lot of good for us. But that does not give them the right to do what they are
asking to do with this site. This process has been deceptive to say the least, if not illegal. Should
not the whole county have been notified of these planned changes?
I strongly urge the Planning commission to hold a public hearing concerning this matter
and notify all of us about the meeting!
Please notify me(all of us)of anything to do with this application!
Thank you,
90yea—
Joyce
Van Till
