CA 95205 Re: Application#PA-0200625(SA) Dear Ms Mueller, Thank you for the notification about the possible site status change from the Old German Baptist tsremren Church at 12455 E. West Ripon Rd to a possible meeting hall for the VFW Post 1051_ We appreciate the courtesy of being informed by your.department. We want to present our concerns to you in a peacefiil and rational manner. We have the following comments and input regarding this possible change, and we ask that you give fair and open minded consideration to them. l. 1 was born & raised, and have always lived within 1.2 miles of this church. l am-34 years old. This immediate community has been a peaceful Christian community for many, many years. The Old German Baptist Brethren have used this building only once a week (Sunday) since the church was built in 1958. They do NOT have a pre-school or any mid week services that other churches typically have. In other words,they have been (and still are)a quiet peaceful group themselves. The way they use their facility'is peaceful and reverent. Services are always inside and quiet. They do not use any musical instruments in their singing,so they are never causing any disturbance to the neighbors. It is in your Qo to ensure that J the fixture use of this site will also be quiet and peaceful. 2.. My wife,Dawn and 1,and our four children(ages 2-9)were given the opportunity to purchase property '/4 mile north of the Church in 1999,which we did. We desired a peaceful, quiet place to raise our young family. This has been the case since 1999. Had this VFW post been there,l highly doubt if we would have purchased this property. We trust your planning department will continue to perpetuate this quiet rural life ale for us and others in the immediate area. 3. Living all of my life in rural Ripon in this immediate area, I have had the need to call the S1 County Sheriff for various problems over the years. Nearly every time I have called,I have waited 20-40 minutes for a deputy to show up. While.I know the Sheriff Dept has been short staffed in recent years,this delayed response has been typical for many years(just ask other rural Ripon.residents). Twice,we have called the Ripon Police Department(only 1 mile away)due to the nature of the problem,and they said"this is not our jurisdiction - call the Sheriff`. It is highly likely with the proposed use of this site that loud music, partying- alcohol and brawls (due to alcohol)will occur. Please ask the Sheriff's deet what happens when alcohol parties andMople come together Will we still have to wait 2040 minutes for a deputy to show up,while we are truing to sleep etc ..? Is this what the Sheriff or neighbors want to deal with? 4. We understand from the Ripon Record newspaper that the VFW 1051 has not applied for a liquor license,but they+have picked up the necesM paperwork to do so. The VFW in the same article said they had no plans to obtain a liquor license. What is up here? Are they trying to look good to the neighbors at the onset,and then apply for a liquor license at some future time? We are strongly opposed to any alcohol being old bathe VFW or brought[into this site by renters of the Facility for weddings,recer�tions,yarties, patriotic festivities etc Alcohol in any form WILL cause problems with our law abiding neighbors.
