Ethylene Dibro, mide. Numerous tests have been completed for
ethylene dibromide (EDB) All of the results were reported to be below
detection limits
Coliform Bacteria. At the request of the Health Department, a water
sample was collected from MW-1 immediately after the well was
constructed, and the sample was then analyzed for coliform bacteria
The test was performed because the well lies within 50 feet of a sanitary
sewer force main lying west of the well The test result reported a most
probable count of 1,600 coliform bacteria/100 milliliters
Tank Site #2
' The former underground storage tank located at Site #2 was uncovered
and removed from the site on August 27, 1991 by Jim Dobbas, Inc The
tank had a capacity of 500 gallons The top of the tank was
approximately 3-1/2 feet below the ground surface, the bottom was at a
depth of approximately 7-1/2 feet bgs Visual observations indicated
that the tank was severely corroded and contained several holes
Confirmation Sampling
After the tank was removed, the soils below the tank and the ground
water that collected in the excavation were sampled by ERM-West The
sampling was performed according to the guidelines specified by the
San Joaquin County tank removal permit
A noticeable petroleum odor was present during the sampling Water
was noted in the excavation and was subsequently sampled by lowering
laboratory-provided containers into the water A slight sheen was
noticed as the water was being sampled The samples were tested for
TPH as gasoline and diesel, BTEX, EDB, and total lead
TPH as gasoline and low concentrations of TPH as diesel were detected
in the soil beneath the tank and in the excavated soils TPH as gasoline
L and BTEX were detected in the water sample collected from the bottom
of the excavation
The tank excavation was backfilled on the same day that the tank was
removed The tank excavation was lined with visqueen, then clean fill
was placed in the pit As the fill was placed, the material was
compacted The excavated material was stockpiled over the former
tank area Stockpiled soils were placed on visqueen, sampled, and
covered with additional visqueen
3-3
