SECTION 2
SOIL AND GROUND NATER
INVESTIGATION WORK PLAN
1
This section outlines the proposed activities for further evaluation of
soil and ground water conditions at the former underground storage
tank site
Scope of Work
ERM-West proposes to construct and sample four ground water
monitoring wells (Figure 1-2). The first well will be located at the
approximate center of the former tank location. The direction of
ground water flow at the subject site is inferred to be to the south, this
is the same direction as that which has been determined during the
investigation of the 1515 West Weber Avenue site which is located
approximately 500 feet to the west of the subject site. Thus, the
second well will be located in a hydrologically down-gradient
direction from the former UST (to the south) The third well will be
situated in a cross-gradient direction from the former UST (to the
east), and the fourth well will be located in an up-gradient direction
' from the former UST, to the north Three of the wells will be located
outside the building and the fourth may either be located inside the
building or will be installed gust outside the building using an angle
boring technique.
Preparation for Drilling
ERM-West will utilize the services of USA Alert and an underground
utilities locator to ensure that well borings are placed in locations
which are sufficiently removed from underground hazards (pipes,
electric lines, etc ) The proposed drilling locations in this work plan
are subject to slight modifications based on the findings of the
subsurface utilities investigation
All of the proposed monitoring wells are situated in areas which are
covered with asphalt and/or concrete To gain access to the soils for
drilling purposes, a concrete coring company will be retained to cut
through the asphalt and concrete
2-1
