i <br /> PROBLEM ASSESSMENT REPORT <br /> s BULB DISTRIBUTION PLANT <br /> .� MOORE PETROLEUM, INC. <br /> BANTA, CALIFORNIA <br /> NGA PROJECT NO. 10-90-481 <br /> 1.0 IN'T'RODUCTION <br /> 1.1 authorization and Purposs <br /> Nations Groundwater .Associates (NGA) has been authorized by Moore <br /> Petroleum, Inc. to prepare this problem assessment report of Moore <br /> Petroleum's bulk distribution plant located at 5491 F Street, <br /> Banta, California, T.2S, R.5E. , Section 24 MDB&M (Figure 1) . <br /> The purpose of this report is to present details of recent <br /> investigation activities at the site, evaluate the extent .of <br /> petroleum constituents in soil and ground water, and provide <br /> recommendations for remediation plans (if required) for soil and <br /> ground water at the site. <br /> 1 2_ScoRe of Work <br /> . The scope of work for this report includes the following <br /> activities: <br /> Review of available geologic and hydrogeologic data <br /> pertinent to the site. <br /> s Drilling three hollow-stem-auger soil borings to obtain <br /> undisturbed soil samples at 5-foot-depth intervals. Soil <br /> samples were screened with detector tubes sensitive to <br /> the presence of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) . <br /> Selected soil samples were submitted to a California- <br /> certified laboratory to be analyzed for benzene, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX) , 1,2-dichloroethane (EDC) , <br /> ethylene dibromide (EDB) , and TPH by EPA method 8260. <br /> s Classify soils encountered in the soil borings according <br /> to the Unified Sail Classification System. <br /> e Completion of each soil boring as a ground-water <br /> monitoring well (MFT-4, MW-5, and MW-6) . <br /> Development of the newly installed mon4toring wells and <br /> the collection of water samples from all monitoring wells <br /> at the site. Ground-water samples were submitted to a <br /> ----------Cali€ornia-certified--laborator ---- - ------ - <br /> ---------------- y-and--analyzed--dor--BTEX-,----- <br /> EDC, EDB, and TPH using EPA method 8260. <br />
