This site assessment is in response to the
reported detection of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soils adjacent to the underground storage tanks
at the site.
1 1 Puroose
The Phase I Site Hydrogeologic Assessment will be undertaken to perform the following:
o Evaluate the site hydrogeologic characteristics.
o Evaluate the horizontal aad vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil.
0 Determine if ground water at the site contain?any dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons.
r and the direction of ground water flow
0 Determine the depth to ground wate
underlying the site.
. o Determine the location of nearby water-supply wells.
o Evaluate the need for additional assessment or remedial activities.
i.2 oe f rk
To accomplish these objectives, the following activities are proposed:
o Review available geologic and hydrogeologic data pertinent to the site.
o Drill two standard-penetration, hollow-stem auger soil borings.
o Complete the two soil borings as monitoring wells.
o Classify soils according to the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS).
o Screed containerized soil samples with a portable photoionization detector(PID) for
total organic vapors.
oTT Submit soil samples-from-each-boring-for laboratory analysis-based-on-3oJl-screening
results.
