A septic tank is located
as shown on Figure 2.
2.6 Spill History
From the information provided, there has been no documented release of petroleum hydrocarbons
at the site. The three gasoline-holding USTs were epoxy lined three years ago. At that time there
was no indication of holes in any of the tanks.
Q BACKGROLIND INFOBMATION
3.1 Re ional Gealaev
Banta, California, is located within the Grest Central Valley Geomorphic Province of Californi?.
The Central Valley Province is bordered to the east by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and to the wesR
by the Coast Ranges. Surficial geology in the Banta area consists primarily of recent alluvium and
the Recent to Pleistocene age Flood Basin Deposits. Both units consist of discontinuous lenses of
gravel, sand, silt, and clay. Recent alluvium deposits typically do not exceed 150 feet in thickness.
Flood Basin Deposits p p approximately one-mile northwest of Banta. Maximum thickness of
Flood Basin Deposits is about 1400 feet. This unit is typically finer-grained than the alluvial depusits
and may also contain appreciable amounts of organic matter. A generalized stratigraphic column of
San Joaquin County is presented in Table 4,
3.2 5ite Gealggy
Based on information provided by the soil borings drilled by ETS(Section 2.1),subsurface materials
m- at the site consist primarily of clay and silt lenses. Following completion of the activities described
in this work plan, hydrogeologic cross-sections) of the site will be prepared and presented in the
'Preliminary Hydr, ealogic Assessment Report:
6d.
3.3 Ground Wafter Flow
^- The direction of ground water flow within the uppermost water-bearing zone at the site has not been
defined at this time. However, because of the proximity of the site to the San Joaquin River, located
about 5 miles east of the site,it is anticipated that the direction of ground water flow is toward the
east r northeast. The direction of ground water flow will be defined following the installation of .
-- ---- --- ------the-ground-water mon itori n wells at the site Section 4 ] and.w1)l lie reported in the Preliminary
Hydrogeologic Assessment Report submitted at the conclusion of the investigation described in this
is
work plan.
1
}
1
I
7
3n
