' Fourth Quarter 1995 Groundwater Monitoring&Remediation Status Report Moore Petroleum,Inc.,5491"F"Street,Banta,CA 1 November 16, 1995 Page 2 BACKGROUND Apex began work on the project with the groundwater monitoring conducted on January 14, 1994. Prior to Apex,work conducted at the site included subsurface investigations and groundwater monitoring by Earth Treatment Systems, Inc., of Manteca, California, Delta Environmental Consultants, Inc., of Rancho Cordova, California,Nations Groundwater Associates of Sacramento, California, and Aegis Environmental, Inc. (Aegis), of Roseville, California. Site details may be found in a "Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report," dated April 18, 1991, submitted to Moore Petroleum by Aegis. GROUNDWATER MONITORING Groundwater Levels On October 19, 1995, Apex personnel collected groundwater-level measurements from all six monitoring wells. All groundwater elevations were measured to the nearest 0.01 foot, referenced to the surveyed top-of-casing elevations and conducted according to the Apex standard operating procedures(SOP)included as Attachment 1. Liquid-level measurements collected since January 1993 are summarized in Table 1. Figure 3 is a potentiometric surface map of the shallow water- bearing zone on October 19, 1995. Groundwater Sampling and Analysis On October 19, 1995, Apex personnel collected groundwater samples from all six monitoring wells. The wells were sampled for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), as gasoline, TPH, as diesel, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes(BTEX). All samples were collected according to the Apex SOP included in Attachment 1. The samples were submitted, under chain- of-custody, to Sparger Technology of Sacramento, California, a state-certified analytical laboratory. Analytical results since January 1992 for TPH, as gasoline and diesel, and BTEX are summarized in Table 2. The laboratory analytical reports and chain-of-custody form are included in Attachment 3.
