Chemical Hazards <br /> Petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil or residual petroleum hydrocarbon <br /> products may contain amounts of benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and xylene. <br /> Benzene is a potential human carcinogen. <br /> Routes of Exposure: <br /> Benzene, toluene and xylene can be routed to the body through inhalation ingestion, <br /> g g , <br /> contact and absorption. Ethyl benzene can affect the body through inhalation, ingestion <br /> and contact. <br /> Symptoms of Overexposure: <br /> Over exposure to gasoline vapors can be characterized by eye and nose irritation, along <br /> with respiratory effects. Giddiness, headache and nausea are also signs of overexposure. <br /> If overexposure is suspected, leave area immediately and get fresh air.
