• Depth to groundwater levels at locations MW-8 and MW-9 are relatively shallow
(approximately 10-feet bg) and groundwater extraction will lower the water table and expand
the SVE zone of influence.
• An existing SVE system is already in place at the site and associated piping has been installed
to the well head at MW-8.
• Well MW-8 was constructed for the purpose of dual phase remediation. Prior to well
installation, Apex anticipated the possibility of using well MW-8 as a remediation alternative
for the site.
• Well MW-9 is located in the proximity of well MW-8 (65-feet to the north) and Apex
anticipates observing SVE and groundwater extraction influences at well MW-9.
Specifically, Apex proposes a short-term, 48-hour dual-phase extraction pilot test be performed
on well MW-8 to determine the feasibility of SVE and groundwater pump and treat as a remedial
alternative. Groundwater monitoring well MW-8 is a 4-inch diameter well. Remediation piping
was installed from well MW-8 to the remediation compound during UST removal and over
excavation. The proposed dual-phase remediation pilot test would consist of connecting the
existing piping to MW-8 and the existing RSI Remediation Unit. Apex will modify the RSI
Remediation Unit to extract groundwater along with soil vapors and permits will be obtained
with the county air board. Extracted groundwater will be containerized on-site, treated and
discharged under the direction of the sewer authority.
Once the analytical data and field data are reviewed and evaluated, a"Revised Final Remediation
Plan"will be prepared documenting the results of this investigation including a well search.
SITE SAFETY PLAN
A Site Safety plan (SSP) will be prepared and will be on site during all field activities. All on-
site work will be conducted according to the SSP. The SSP will contain information on the
properties of the hazardous materials known to be on the site. This information is equivalent to
the contained within Material Safety Data Sheets.
A copy of this Workplan was submitted to:
Mr. Mark List
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
3443 Routier Road, Suite A
Sacramento, California 95827-3098
Ms. M.
