An existing SVE system is already in place at the site and associated piping has been installed
to the well head at MW-8.
• Well MW-8 was constructed for the purpose of SVE remediation. Prior to well installation,
Apex anticipated the possibility of using well MW-8 as a remediation alternative for the site.
• Well MW-9 is located in the proximity of well MW-8 (65-feet to the north) and Apex
anticipates observing SVE influence at well MW-9.
Specifically, Apex proposes a short-term, 48-hour SVE pilot test be performed on well MW-8 to
determine the feasibility of SVE as a remedial alternative. Groundwater monitoring well MW-8
is a 4-inch diameter well. Remediation piping was installed from well MW-8 to the remediation
compound during UST removal and over excavation. The proposed SVE pilot test would consist
of connecting the existing piping to MW-8 and the existing RST Remediation Unit.
Once the analytical data and field data are reviewed and evaluated, a"Revised Final Remediation
Plan"will be prepared documenting the results of this investigation including a well search.
Apex originally planned to utilize dual phase extraction, that is groundwater extraction in
combination with SVE. However, Ms. Margaret Lagorio with the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division informed Apex that no sanitary sewer system exists in the area.
Therefore, no means is available to discharge the water extracted during the pilot test. Apex will
look at the results of the SVE pilot test and determine if dual phase extraction is necessary to
remediate the site. if the results of the pilot test warrant dual phase extraction, Apex will apply
for a NPDES permit to discharge the treated water to a nearby stream.
SITE SAFETY PLAN
A Site Safety plan (SSP) will be prepared and will be on site during all field activities. All on-
site work will be conducted according to the SSP. The SSP will contain information on the
properties of the hazardous materials known to be on the site. This information is equivalent to
the contained within Material Safety Data Sheets.
A copy of this Workplan was submitted to:
Mr. Mark List
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
3443 Routier Road, Suite A
Sacramento, California 95827-3098
Ms. M.
