Third Quarter 2003 Groundwater Monitoring/Remediation Status Report
Moore Petroleum Bulk Plant,5491 E Street,Banta,Califomia
Page 5 q
c
Modifications from StandardMonitoring Program:
None r
' , • - ,  ;l
REMEDIATION SYSTEM SUMMARY
Soil Vapor Extraction System
System description:
Gasoline:vapors are extracted from the subsurface through,three monitoring/vapo'r wells (VEW-
3/MW-8, MW-1, and VEW-4/MW-7) and two vapor extraction wells (VEW-l'and VEW-2). The-
wells
he wells are manifolded together with PVC piping in the remediation compound before'connecting
to 'the extraction system;(Figure 2). The vapor extraction system is a King Buck®, 100 cfm, i
catalytic oxidizer modelNo: MMC-5A, utilizing a positive-displacement blower,as a vacuum }
source.
System startup dater June 17, 2002 {
Current system mode: ii Catalytic operation since startup. ,
Active-extraction wells:I VEW-1 through VE '
Inactive extraction wells/reason: MW-1 -
Status of system operation during reporting.period/reasons for downtime:
During this reporting period, from June 19, to September 25;`2003, the SVE system did not
operate continuously. Accordin
P y g to hour meter readings and field data, the system operated for
35.5 days. Since the hydrocarbon concentrations have declined, Apexhas begun a.two week on- }
two week off-operating cycle to allow rebound to occur between on cycles. Power fluctuations
also reported by the-station-personnel, and which caused some unplanned downtime. However,
all influent .samples collected during this reporting period were non-detect; for .benzene
concentrations and only 18w-TPHg concentrations were reported (Table 5).
Table 5 summarizes extraction and emission .data from sampling events that are normally 1
performed at the beginning of each month. The flow. rates and analytical, data are used to
calculate approximate pounds of hydrocarbons extracted. 'The SVE results are shown below.
E. System performance totals:
Pounds of TPH removed: .110 pounds (17.5 gallons) this quarter/ i
4,479 pounds (711 gallons) total
Pounds of benzene removed: 0.0 pounds this quarter/1,4 pounds total
ii _ n
