Third Quarter 2004 Groundwater Monitoring)Remediation Status Report
lR ` Moore Petroleum Bulk Plant,5491 F Street,Banta,California
Page 6
REMEDIATION SYSTEM SUMMARY
Soil Vapor Extraction System l
System description:
Petroleum vapors are extracted from the subsurface through three monitoring/vapor wells (VEW-
3/MW-8, MW-1, and VEW-4/MW-7) and two vapor extraction wells (VEW-1 and VEW-2). The
wells are manifolded together with PVC piping in the remediation compound before connecting
to the extraction system. The vapor extraction system is a 5-horsepower regenerative blower
manufactured by Rotron-Ametek®, Model number EN6F72L. Abatement of the volatile organic
compounds extracted with the SVE system is activated carbon adsorption. 'The system is
operating under the authority of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, Authority
to Construct No. N 560-8-0. The system is currently not operating pending district approval.
System startup date: Pending
Current system mode: Carbon abatement
Active extraction wells: VEW-1 through VEW-4
Inactive extraction wells/reason: MW-1/system optimization, zero concentrations
Status of system operation during reporting period/.reasons for downtime:
From July 1 through September 13, 2004, the SVE system with the catalytic oxidizer(catox)
operated continuously with the exception of one shut down due to a power outage. On
September 13, the system with the catalytic oxidizer was shutdown and removed from site. The
I
SVE as previously described was installed and tested and remained shut down until the source
test was performed on September 29, 2004. According to hour meter readings and field data, the
catox system operated for a total of 57 days during this period. All effluent samples collected
during this reporting period were non-detect for TPHg and benzene concentrations.
Vapor Analysis Performed:
Analysis Abbreviation Designation USEPA Method No.
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons TPH Gas-Range 826(18
as Gasoline g Hydrocarbons
Benzene Aromatic
Toluene BTEX Volatile 8260E
Eth lbenzene Organics
X lenes Total}
Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether MTBE Fuel 82606
Oxygenate
r
t
I
