The suspected contaminants are heavy metals such as
copper, nickel, tin, lead, and low pH.
2.0 SITE DESCRIPTION
The site is a warehouse-type structure, with approximately 13,800
square feet of floor space. It is located in Stockton, in a light
industrial area, along the Stockton Deep Water Channel. The southern
end of the site faces Field Avenue and there is a residential
neighborhood across the street.
The building was used as a printed circuit board manufacturing
facility. Acid plating solutions containing copper and other heavy
metals were used in the manufacturing process. Plating solution which
spilled on the floor flowed to a pair of sumps where it was collected
and discharged to the sewer.
3.0 WORK DESCRIPTION
Field activities will consist of an investigation of the facility and
surrounding areas to verify and quantify contamination of soils and
groundwater. Soil samples will be collected along the west side of
the building using a hand auger or other hand tools. Soil samples
collected from borings both inside the building and outside will be
taken using a standard penetration sampler. Monitoring wells will be
installed in all of the soil bores, and samples of groundwater will be
collected_
