This project phase also provides"
{' groundwater gradient information for future investigative work.
'-" 2.0 Site Description and Historp
On October 21, 1992, SEMCO, under permit, removed two (2) underground fuel storage!;
-• tanks from the DeBoer Trucking property. The tanks included a 6,000 gallon diesel tank,
and an 8,000 gallon diesel tank. The soil samples taken under the diesel tanks disclosed
concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon in the diesel range.
Fes, On January 15, 1993, SEMCO re-excavated the former underground tank facility at
DeBoer Trucking. WET Iogged the excavation and screened the soil with a portable PID.
Highly contaminated soils were encounterCd during the excavation, and did not appear to
-4 decrease much with depth. The excavation was terminated at 25 feet in depth, and
samples were taken of the floor and sidealalls at 18 feet in depth (Figure 2). II
I
The lateral limits of the excavation were forty feet from north to south, and twelve feet
from east to west. Approximately 440 cubic yards of soil were removed and stockpiled on '! i
l site.
