INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr. Wiley Chandler,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE)has prepared this
Phase 1I Site Assessment Work Plan for APN 157-020-09, Stockton, California(site). The location
of the site is illustrated on Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2.
Research for a Phase I site assessment update indicated the use of fuel oil and other hazardous
materials at the former Del Monte Foods Unit E parcel, based on the 31 May 2002 Phase I
Environmental Site Assessment conducted by Kleinfelder Inc.. The Phase I site assessment update
also noted the existence of a hazardous material storage area, a "low lying" area with severely
damaged asphalt, a stained pad mounted transformer, and an adjacent railroad spur with noted
possible contaminates. Further investigation was recommended to determine possible subsurface
contamination from site utilization of the above mentioned materials.
This Phase II site assessment work plan was prepared as required by the EHD for the procurement
of a soil boring permit. This plan is in accordance with Appendix A to Tri-Regional
Recommendations - Reporting, dated 30 August 1991, prepared by the Central Valley Regional
Water Quality Control Board for the investigation of underground storage tank(UST) sites.
2.0. BACKGROUND
The site is a vacant property that was formerly the Disco Warehouse; it is located at the intersection
of Filbert and Myrtle streets, in an area of mixed commercial and light industrial use (Figure 2).
Features on the property include vacant buildings,an asphalt-paved yard area,and a"low lying"area
immediately east of the Disco Warehouse.
2.1. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING
The site is situated within the southern portion of the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of
California, a large, elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric structural trough; the northern and
southern portions of the Province have been designatedthe Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys,
The Province is bordered by the Coast Ranges to the west, the Klamath Mountains and Cascade
Range to the north, and the Sierra Nevada to the east.
The Great Valley has been filled with sediments derived from both marine and continental sources.
Thickness of the sedimentary fill ranges from thin veneers along the valley edges to more than
20,000 feet in the south central portion of the valley. The sedimentary formations range in age from
Jurassic to Recent, with the older deposits being primarily marine in origin and the younger deposits
