Infuma Jr. Del Monte Foods-Former Disco Site
Stockton, California
April 23,2010
Well Destructions Over Drilling pIL
/ ?1ruck
Non-nested on-Site wells (MW-DIS-1, MW-DIS-2, MW-DIS- MW-DISE-2, VE-3,
VE-4, VE-5, SVE-N, SVE-S, AS-1S, AS-1D) will be abandoned nted hollow
stem auger rig. These wells will be over-drilled using the original size auger for each boring to
the boring total depth to remove all well construction materials. The boreholes will then be
grouted using a cementJbentonite-grout from the total depth of the borehole up to just below
surface grade. Grout will be pumped into each borehole using tremmie pipe. Surface
completions will match the surrounding surface.
Well Destructions -Wire Line Charge Explosives
Nested on-Site wells (SVE-1/AS-1, SVE-2/AS-2, AS-2S/2D, AS-3S/3D, AS-4S/4D, AS-5S/5D,
G/,gip-.1-60/70/80%9 NP-2-45/65) will be destroyed using wire line charge explosives and grout.
Following placement of a 1/8 inch line charge in the casing, grout will be pumped into the 3/4
inch casing using 1/4 inch polyethylene tubing as tremmie pipe. The grout will be pumped in the
casing from total depth to surface until the borehole is effectively filled with the grout. The
casing will then be sealed and covered with appropriate explosion subsidence materials. A
charge will be applied to the wire line explosive, effectively breaking the casing and allowing the
grout to flow into the formation. All casings within a single borehole will be destroyed
simultaneously using the wire line charge well destruction method. The traffic rated well box will
be removed using a jack hammer and the resultant void will be filled with concrete and/or
matched to finished grade.
Waste Management
Soil cuttings and water generated during drilling and well obstruction removal activities will be
stored on-Site in properly labeled 55 gallon containers and/or or on plastic visqueen pending
waste characterization. Waste will be disposed in accordance with applicable laws and
regulations and as approved by the SJCEHD.
PROJECT SCHEDULE
SGI plans to commence work immediately following the approval of the workplan by SJCEHD.
SGI estimates well destruction activities will take three to four weeks to complete.
