Page 2 of 3 I
Thank you,
Michael Infurna, REHS.
SJCEHD.
(209) 468-3454
From: Brian Stringari [mailto:BStringari@kleinfelder.com]
Sent: Monday, March 10, 2008 4:27 PM 4
To: kelly.bay@delmonte.com; Eric Findlay; Mike Infurna [EH] I`I
{ Subject: MW-5 and MW-6 abandonment
1 .
Mr. Infurna:
Concerning the destruction of MW-5 and MW-6 for the Del Monte Disco Site:
Kleinfelder has explored options to facilitate the over boring of the two monitoring wells at the corner of
Filbert and Miner in Stockton California.
The 12" diameter pipe directly east of MW-5 can not be cut because it is a portion of an active water ]
treatment plant for processing rainwater. This pipe may pose an unnecessary safety/spill issue if cut.
To the west of MW-5, an office trailer in use by the trucking school currently operating at the site blocks
equipment from accessing the well from the west side. The trailer can not be moved at this time.
i
MW-5 is inaccessible from the north.
To the south of MW-5 there is limited access underneath a truck loading station. There is not sufficient
space for a drill rig to access the well from this side.
Based on limited access to the wells we are proposing to revisit our initial work plan in which the
monitoring wells will be over excavated to the proper depth and then pressure grouted in place. We will
work with the drill company so that the monitoring wells are destroyed in accordance with San Joaquin
County well abandonment standards.
Brian Stringari
Staff Engineer, E.I.T.
Kleinfelder, Stockton Office
2825 East Myrtle St.
Stockton, CA 95205-4794
Office: (209) 948-1345
Cell: (209) 993-3839
Fax: .
