Concentrations of 1,2 DCA were not detected in the inlet stream to the
system. It is assumed that either the 1,2 DCA has migrated off the source area, or the TPH-g
concentrations altered the detection levels during analysis. It was also noted that the maximum
hydrocarbon levels detected in the air stream entering the control equipment was greater (1800
ppm) than originally anticipated (500 ppm). We expect to run a flow rate of approximately 150
cfm for the duration of the remediation.
The estimated extraction rate and emission rate for TPH and benzene were calculated using the
analytical sample results input into the following equation:
(C_)'(dugll CF ftn ).(9E-5 miml-lb
J 111 ppm/// min day•ft ug
Il where:
I F= System flowrate (65 scfm at the inlet, 315 scfm at the outlet)
d= 4.125 for TPH, 3.25 for benzene
C= Concentration of COC at the sample point
Using the above equation, the emission rates and corresponding efficiencies for system were
calculated and provided in Table 2:
If
1
i
12280.REM2/STOC3R881 Page 2 to 4
Copyright 2003,Kleinfelder,Inc.
