Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, California 95202-2708
RE: Drill Cuttings and Rinse Water Disposal
Glacier Court Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation (MW-15)
Del Monte Foods, Inc.
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Infurna,
As you know from our recent report submittal, the installation of monitoring well MW-15 is now
complete. The monitoring well was installed in accordance with the workplan prepared by
Kleinfelder and approved by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD)
titled "Workplan, Additional Monitoring Well Installation, Del Monte Foods, Inc., Stockton,
California", dated January 15, 2003. The well is located in the sidewalk in front of the residence
located at 103 Glacier Court. During the drilling operation, drill cuttings and decontamination
rinse water were contained in 55-gallon drums and stored on the Disco site pending the
laboratory analysis in accordance with the workplan.
Soil samples were collected during the drilling operation for logging purposes and possible
laboratory analysis. A total of five soil samples collected from the 15', 30', 45', 60', and 75'
foot intervals and submitted for laboratory analysis. The five soil samples were analyzed for
total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene, methyl
tert-butyl ether, ter -amylmethyl ether, di-isopropyl ether, ethyl tert-butyl ether, tert-butyl alcohol,
1,2-dibromoethane, and 1,2-dichloroethane. There were no detectable concentrations at or above
the laboratory reporting limits for the above-stated analysis. Attached is a copy of the complete
laboratory report for your review.
As per our request via telephone, Kleinfelder, on Del Monte's behalf, asked for EHD
concurrence to dispose of the drummed cuttings and decontamination water by spreading the
cuttings and dispensing the rinse water to the ground surface at the Disco site. On April 11,
2003, you replied via voicemail with EHD concurrence to spread the non-detect soils collected
from the installation process of MW-15 on the Disco site.
12280.GLAC/ST03L153 Page 1 of 2
Copyright 2003 Kleinfelder,Inc.
