Filbert St. RO#: 0000188
Stockton, CA., 95205
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD) has reviewed Pilot Test Letter
Report—Del Monte Disco Site dated November 25, 2002 as submitted by Kleinfelder on
December 2, 2002 and has the following comments.
From October 16 to October 21, 2002 an air sparging pilot test was conducted at the site
utilizing the recently installed test-well cluster of a soil vapor extraction well and two air
sparge wells. Oxygen delivery dynamics were evaluated and an area of influence was
determined based on data collected during this period.
Your consultant, Kleinfelder, has concluded that deep air sparging in combination with soil
vapor extraction could be successfully applied to remediate the contaminants of concern in
the subsurface. Kleinfelder also recommended evaluating supplementing the sparging
technology with ozone.
Based on site-specific conditions and the presence of elevated levels of TPHg onsite and
elevated levels of 1,2-DCA migrating offsite, EHD concurs with your consultant's conclusion.
The Corrective Action Plan detailing the installation and operational specifications should be
submitted in a timely manner.
EHD thanks you for you cooperation in continuing to assertively investigate and determine a
remedial alternative for this site's extensive groundwater plume. You may continue to
contact Michael Infurna at(209)468-3454 if you have any questions or wish to discuss the
site.
