Messrs Larson and Trommerv May 26, 2010
April and May 2010 Draft Five-Year Review Page 2 of 2
Recommendation
Various Sites
1250 N. Wilson Way, Stockton, CA; Claim Number 13729: You concurred with the EHD
approval of a groundwater extraction pilot study; we are in agreement.
1201 S. Center Street, Stockton, CA; Claim Number 12186: You concurred with the EHD that
active remediation should continue at the site; we are in agreement.
2151 Country Club Boulevard, Stockton, CA; Claim Number 12962: You concurred with the
EHD directive to conduct a dual phase extraction pilot test; we are in agreement.
11396 N. Highway 99, Stockton, CA; Claim Number 10934: You concurred with the EHD that
active remediation should continue at the site; we are in agreement. The EHD has recently
approved modifications to the vapor extraction system design that should accelerate the
remediation process.
110 N. Filbert Street, Stockton, CA; Claim Number 2612: You concurred with the EHD
directive to destroy monitoring wells to prepare for site closure; we are in agreement. At this
time the work plan for well destructions has been approved and the permit applications have
been received and will soon be issued. A closure letter will be issued following the well
destructions and certification of proper disposal of the associated investigation derived wastes.
290 N. Main Street, Manteca, CA; Claim Number 13849: Noting that the rate of methyl tert-
butyl ether (MTBE) extraction had declined and may have lost cost-effectiveness, you
recommended that the EHD direct the RP to assess alternative remedial technologies. At this
time the EHD is working with the consultant to identify and correct the problem with the
groundwater extraction rate, which appears to be the cause for the low cost-effectiveness. Upon
completion of the evaluation, the EHD will issue a directive to enhance the remediation
effectiveness.
23569 S. Santa Fe Road, Escalon, CA; Claim Number 15211: You concurred with the EHD
directive to resume groundwater monitoring and submission of the report of findings from the
membrane interface probe (MIP) investigation. As noted to you in previous correspondence,
there are serious communication problems with the RP at this time, but the EHD will pursue this
issue as vigorously as possible to solution.
Questions or comments should be directed to Mike Infurna at (209) 468-3454 or to Nuel
Henderson at (209) 468-3436.
Sincere
Michael J.
