= 3.3 LABORATORY ANALYSES
f
All samples will be analyzed by EPA-or California-approved procedures. The analyses
• will be carried out by CH2M HILL"s laboratory in Redding,Califoinia. This laboratory
is certified by the State of California to conduct the analyses specified in this work plan.
Analytical parameters to be analyzed are based on the requirements of the Tri-
Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of
Underground Tank Site manual. 'TL
Samples will be analyzed for the parameters listed in Table 3-1. Sample/Container
•$ preservation and holding time requirements are also shown in Table 3-1. Af4er samples
are collected in the appropriate containers and labeled, the containers will be'placed in
ziplock bags and placed in an ice-filled chest or cooler. Water sample bottles will be
packaged securely with either bubble wrap or vermiculite to reduce chances of bottle
a
breakage. Ice or blue ice will be placed on top of the samples.
r All appropriate sample documentation will be placed in a ziplock bag and taped to the
inside lid of the cooler. The cooler will then be sealed with cuitody seals and strapping
tape. Coolers will be couriered by the CH2M HILL laboratory or shipped via over-
night courier (Federal Express or Greyhound) to the analytical laboratory.
la
f 3.4 DATA REVIEW AND ANALYSIS
l. Data for all parameters will undergo two levels of review and validation: by the Tabora-
tory and by CH2M HILL. Data will be reviewed according to the guidelines outlined
below and described in detail in Section 4.0. Data will be reviewed with regard to the
following:
• Analytical methodology
• Detection limits
• BIanks for contamination
• Accuracy and precision
The review process includes flagging data with qualifiers. Commonly used qualifiers
include:
f
J = Estimated, usable for limited purposes. The data are qualitatively, but
not quantitatively, acceptable.
R = Rejected, unusable. The data are qualitatively and quantitatively unac-
ceptable. ;
r sF0316G4NWF 07.51 3-6
