I INTRODUC170N <br /> Del Monte plans to conduct a subsurface investigation at a former underground tank <br /> site, known as the Disco site, located at Del Monte's Plant 33 in Stockton, California. <br /> `N The tanks previously supplied products to the Disco gasoline station which was later <br /> purchased by Del Monte and taken out of service. <br /> i <br /> The work plan and investigation will be conducted in accordance with the following two <br /> guidance documents: Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary <br /> Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Tank Sites, and the Leaking Under- <br /> ground Fuel Tank (LUFT) Field Manual. <br /> r <br /> 1.1 STATEMENT OF SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The scope of work will address the lateral and vertical extent of soil contamination and <br /> ' r an evaluation of the groundwater quality in the vicinity of the former buried gasoline ' <br /> tanks. <br /> 1 1.2 O;BJECTTVES <br /> } <br /> The objectives of this program are to: <br /> • Identify the lateral and vertical extent of soil contamination, if any, in the <br /> vicinity of the tank location. <br /> Test for the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons in the shallow ground- t <br /> water beneath the tank site. <br /> i • Recommend a plan for remedial action, if needed. { <br /> t <br /> SF03160AWP1001.51 -1 <br />
