k" KLEINFELDER
During operation of the Source Test, several parameters were monitored and the inlet and outlet
of the system were sampled (laboratory data sheets and chain of custody record are attached). A
summary of the findings are provided in Table 1:
Table 1 - System Operating and Sampling Results
PA>=ameter. : auted lYtethod U ed Result
Combined Vent Well Flowrate Anemometer 130 scfm
Estimated Dilution Flowrate Anemometer 120 scfm
Combustion Air Flowrate Blower Specifications 250 scfm
Stack Flowrate at Outlet Sample Point Summation of Above 500 scfm
System Vacuum Magnahelic Gauge -40 in we
Inlet Tem erature Thermometer 65.7 de F
Chamber Temperature Thermal System Readout 930 deg F
Inlet Concentration(TPH) Anal ical Results EPA Method TO-14A) 1400 pprn
Inlet Concentration(Benzene) Analytical Results EPA Method TO-I4A) 5.9 ppm
Outlet Concentration(TPH) Analytical Results EPA Method TO-14A) 7.2_ppm
Outlet Concentration (Benzene) Anal 'cal Results(EPA Method TO-14A) ND
In general the system operated within expected parameters, although the well flow was still
below anticipated Ievels. Concentrations of 1,2 DCA were again not detected in the inlet stream
to the system. It is assumed that either the 1,2 DCA has migrated off the source area, or the
TPH-g concentrations altered the detection levels during analysis. Concentrations of TPH were
lower than the previous source test (1800 ppm), consistent with reductions from ongoing site
remediation. We expect to run a combined vent well flow rate of approximately 150 cfin for the
duration of the remediation.
The estimated extraction rate and emission rate for TPH and benzene were calculated using the
analytical sample results input into the following equation:
lC )• dugll1• F ft' 9E-5 minl-lh
Pp„ PPm J min day-ft .ug
where:
F= System flowrate (130 scfm at the inlet, 500 scfm at the outlet)
d= 4.125 for TPH, 3.25 for benzene
C= Concentration of COC at the sample point
12280.REM2/ST031,581 Page 2 to 4
Copyright 2003,Kleinfelder,Inc.
