kAll samples will be shipped to a California-certified laboratory using chain-of-custody
procedures for analysis. Upon completion of the grab groundwater sampling, the boring will
be abandoned by backfilling with a cement grout tremied into the boring through the
sampling rods.
Potential soil and groundwater sample analyses are summarized in Table 1.Table 2
summarizes the required sample containers, preservations, and holding times.
i . 3.2 Equipment Decontamination
At each drilling location,an area will be established for equipment decontamination. All CPT
drill rods, and soil and groundwater sampling equipment will be steam cleaned before use,
and between each soil boring.
j 3.3 Waste Disposal Plan
Two types of waste will be generated during the activities described in this work plan:
E
• Rinse water from decontamination of equipment
• Suits/protective clothing
i (CPT logging/boring does not generate drill cuttings).
All wastes are to be considered Del Monte-generated wastes. During the field investigation,
CH2M HILL personnel will be responsible for placing wastes in labeled storage containers.
Del Monte is responsible for determining the ultimate disposal method, preparing wastes for
shipment, and arranging transportation for the waste. Del Monte will sign all shipping
i manifests. CH2M HILL will provide 55-gallon drums. Del Monte will provide any other
necessary storage containers.
The following waste disposal plan assumes all generated wastes will be stored in 55-gallon
drums in a location to be arranged by Del Monte. All hazardous wastes will be disposed of
within 90 days of their collection.
3.3.1 Decontamination Solutions, and Rinse Waters
Wastewater will be generated from equipment decontamination. If prior approval is received
from the local POTW, these waters may be disposed of directly to the local sanitary sewer
system. Alternatively, these waters will be stored onsite in a polyethylene storage tank(s) or in
55-gallon drums. The tank(s)will be stored in a fenced, posted, and secured area. The tank(s)
or drums will be labeled with information indicating the source of the fluids. All wastewater
will ultimately be managed according to federal, state, and local regulations.
3.3.2 Suits/Protective Clothing
Protective suits and clothing will be generated each day. These wastes will be placed in plastic
storage bags and deposited in a 55-gallon drum. The drums containing protective clothing
will be removed, transported, and disposed of with the drums containing the drill
cuttings/care material.
SFOICABERNET/GROUPS/EBG/DELMONTEIPLANT_33IWORKPLAN_CPT.DOC 6
