Phase II Site Assessment Work Plan
KALENDS PALLET SERVICE
1943 East Fremont Street, Stockton, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr. Wiley Chandler,Advanced GeoEnviromnental, hie. (AGE)has prepared this
Phase H Site Assessment Work Plan for the property at 1943 East Fremont Street, Stockton,
California(site). The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated on
Figure 2.
Research for a Phase I site assessment indicated the use of fuel oil at the former Mor-Pak
Preserving/Tri-Valley Growers processing plant, based on 1950 and 1972 Sanborn Fire Insurance
Maps which indicated the former presence of a boiler room at the site. The Phase I site assessment
also noted the former existence of an in-ground scale and an above ground storage tank (AST)
fueling area. Further investigation was recommended to determine the possible existence of any
underground bunker or tank at the former boiler room location, and possible subsurface
contamination from site utilization of fuel and hydraulic oils.
This Phase lI site assessment work plan was prepared as required by the EHD for the procurement
of a soil boring permit. This plan is in accordance with Appendix A to Tri-Regional
Recommendations - Reporting, dated 30 August 1991, prepared by the Central Valley Regional
Water Quality Control Board for the investigation of underground storage tank(UST) sites.
2.0. BACKGROUND
The site is a vacant property that is utilized for pallet storage; it is located at the southeast comer of
East Fremont Street and Wizard Avenue, in an area of mixed commercial and light industrial use
(Figure 2). Features on the property include concrete foundations from former structures, a pallet
assembly area on the southwest portion and a small office building on the northwest portion of the
property.
2.1. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING
The site is situated within the southern portion of the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of
California, a large, elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric structural trough; the northern and
southern portions of the Province have been designated the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys,
The Province is bordered by the Coast Ranges to the west, the Klamath Mountains and Cascade
Range to the north, and the Sierra Nevada to the east.
The Great Valley has been filled with sediments derived from both marine and continental sources.
Thickness of the sedimentary fill ranges from thin veneers along the valley edges to more than
