i
Tracer Research Corporation
f`
INTRODUCTION
A shallow soil gas investigation was performed by Tracer Research Corporation
(TRC) at the Del Monte Plant #23/233 site located in Stockton, California. The
investigation was conducted on May 20, 1991 under contract to CH2M Hill. The purpose
of the investigation was to delineate the extent of possible contamination in the subsurface.
During this survey, a total of 23 soil gas samples were collected and analyzed.
Samples were analyzed for volatile organic compounds from the following suite:
COMPOUND DETECTOR
i benzene FID
toluene FID
ethylbenzene FID
xylenes FID
total volatile hydrocarbons (TVHC) FID
Xylenes are reported as the total of the three xylene isomers. Total hydrocarbons are
reported as gasoline range compounds consisting of approximately C4-C9 aliphatic, alicyclic,
and aromatic compounds.
The compounds in this suite were chosen as target compounds because of their
' suspected presence in the subsurface and amenability to soil gas technology. Soil gas
samples were screened on a gas chromatograph equipped with a flame ionization detector
(FID).
I
l
