t,.
20 October 1998
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0470
tow
• 3.5. GROUND'WATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING
On 27 July 1998,a Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in the
well relative to the top of the well casing: After the ground water depth measurement was collected,
monitoring well MW-1 was purged using a PVC%stainless steel two-stage submersible pump.
Approximately 15 gallons of water were evacuated from the well.Temperature,pH and conductivity
were measured at 2-gallon intervals using an ICM model 52200 water analyzer. Stabilization data
and field logs are included in Appendix B. The 15 gallons of water evacuated from the well was
stored on-site in a DOT approved 55-gallon drum,
3.6. GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION
a.
01
Upon stabilization;the ground water level in the well recharged to a minimum of 80%of the initial
well volume-prior to sample collection. The water sample was collected from the purged well using
a new, clean, disposable plastic bailer. Immediatelyupon retrieval, the sample was transferred into
chilled 40-m1 EPA-approved VOA vials containing 0.5 ml hydrochloric acid(18%)as a preservative.
The sample was placed in a chilled.container and transported under chain-of-custody to Sequoia
Analytical of Sacramento, California.
r -
+ The sample was analyzed in accordance with:
• EPA Method 8015m for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g),
• EPA Method 8020 for volatile aromatic compounds (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and
total xylenes: BTEX) and methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE),
EPA Method 8260m for di -isopropyl ether DIPE), ethyl tert butyl ether ETBE) methyl-
tertiary
eth 1-tertiary
butyl ether(MTBE), tert amyl methyl ether(TAME) and tertiary butanol (TBA).
LW
Advanced GeoEnviromnental,Inc.
