� U <br /> I <br /> CHRONOLOGY <br /> FONTANA PUMP STATION AT SMITH CANAL <br /> 2130 FONTANA STREET <br /> STOCKTON, CA 9520 <br /> 10/27/87 A 5,000-gallon underground storage tank (UST)was ruptured during an , <br /> attempt to install an air bleed on it. Approximately 1,100 gallons of diesel <br /> fuel was released. The UST was sitting in pea gravel fill with the bottom at <br /> about 14 feet below surface grade (bsg). <br /> 1 11/19/87 Unauthorized Release Report (UAR) was filed. <br /> 11/23/87 Tank was repaired with a fiberglass patch. <br /> 05/04/88 One soil boring drilled results of soil sample from 17.5 feet bsg showed <br /> diesel at 130 parts per million (ppm). <br /> 08/15/89 Site was placed into San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> (EHD) Local Oversight Program (LOP). The responsible party was issued <br /> Notice of Reimbursement(NOR). <br /> 08/19/89 Four monitoring wells MVV-1 to MW-4 and 2 soil borings SB-1 and SB-2 <br /> i were installed. <br /> 11/10/89 EHD received analytical results of soil and groundwater samples indicating <br /> Ithe presence of fecal coliform and petroleum hydrocarbon as diesel. <br /> 11/28/89 EHD requested the abandoned 'irrigation well located on site be destroyed, <br /> and a well survey of all well receptors within 2000 feet of the site be <br /> submitted. <br /> 08/02/91 EHD directed quarterly sampling of the monitoring wells to begin <br /> immediately, the abandoned irrigation well on site be destroyed, and the <br /> diesel UST be removed. <br /> 02/28/92 . UST was removed and transported to Cal Coast Tank in Turlock, California.' <br /> About 2 gallons of diesel fuel were lost from the UST during removal. <br /> Backhoe dug down to below the gravel fill at about 17 feet bsg to collect soil <br /> and groundwater samples. <br /> 03/19/92 EHD staff noted the presence of free product in MW-4 during site visit. <br /> 01/12/93 Destruction of the abandoned irrigation well on site began. Final grouting <br /> with sand slurry was completed on 01/15/93 after perforating the casing. <br /> 08/4-5/93 MW-5 and IVIW-6 were installed and 8 soil borings SB-3 to SB-10 were <br /> advanced at the site. <br /> 03/31/94 EHD posted public notice of plan to over-excavate the contaminated soil <br /> and extract impacted groundwater as proposed in Corrective Action Plan <br /> dated Match 28, 1994.
