These activities included monitoring groundwater ;
levels and the sampling of site wells for dissolved hydrocarbons and coliform bacteria.
Other activities performed at the subject site during the first quarter of 1992 included the
excavation of a 5,000 gallon underground diesel storage tank. Analyses of soil samples collected
in this event, along with a report summary, were submitted under separate cover in MNA's
Soil Sampling Report" dated March 24, 1992.
Grouedwater 1Vl Vb_n: l; n Aml}ing
a
u
On March 18, 1992, fluid levels were measured in monitoring wells MWi, MW2, MW3, and
MW4. Static groundwater elevations were measured prior to purging and sampling any well on
site. Groundwater flows northwest with a gradient of approximately 0.058 ft/ft, or 306 ft/mile i
(Figure 2). Groundwater monitoring data are summarized in Table 1. ,
4 Groundwater samples were collected from wells MW1, MW2, MW3, and the on-site irrigation
well. Prior to sample collection, 'veils MWl and MW2 were each purged of approximately 50
gallons of water to collect representative groundwater samples. Monitoring well MW3 was
purged of 9.5 gallons of water due to slow recharge. Purged water was contained in 55 gallon
drums(DOT H), labelled, and stored on site. Floating hydrocarbon product was noted in Well
MW4 and measured to be approximately 1.4 feet in thickness. No groundwater sample was
collected from MW4 due to the presence of floating product. Groundwater samples were
3 collected after physical parameters(pH,temperature, and conductivity)were monitored and had
stabilized. Samples were collected_using a disposable bailer with a bottom-emptying device.
Field purge logs are presented in Attachment 1.
SUR0592ML
