Weber Avenue, 3rd Floor Stockton, CA 95202 Subject: Site Status Report, Second Quarter 1997, Smith Canal Pump Plant, Fontana Street and Smith Canal, Stockton, California, Site Code 1102 Mr. Sasson: This letter report summarizes groundwater monitoring activities at the above referenced site (Figure 1) during the second quarter of 1997. These activities included monitoring fluid levels in jr all site wells and collecting groundwater samples from wells MW3 and MW6 for laboratory analysis. FIELD WORK On April 18, 1997, static fluid levels were measured in monitoring wells MW 1 through MW6. The water table elevation decreased an average of 1.48 feet since January 22, 1997. Table 1 summarizes the water level data collected during the reporting period and provides previous data for comparison. A groundwater gradient map was created for the April 18, 1997 monitoring event (Figure 2) using groundwater elevation data from all the wells monitored. Figure 2 depicts a general northerly groundwater flow direction with a depression in the vicinity of well MW4. Floating petroleum product was observed in well MW4 on April 18, 1997. Approximately 0.150 liters of free product were recovered from the well. Table 2 summarizes the product thickness measurements and volume of product removed from previous monitoring events. All bailed product has been stored in a DOT approved double containment drum pending appropriate disposal. Groundwater samples were collected on April 18, 1997 from wells MW3 and MW6. No groundwater sample was collected from MW4 due to the presence of free product.
