O. Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Subject: Site Status Report, Third Quarter 1995, Smith Canal Pump Plant, Fontana
Street and Smith Canal, Stockton, California, Site Code 1102
Ms. Turkatte:
This letter report summarizes groundwater monitoring activities at the above referenced site
(Figure 1) during the third quarter of 1995. These activities included monitoring fluid levels
in all site wells and collecting groundwater samples from wells MW2, MW3, and MW6 for
.= s laboratory analysis.
FIELD WORK
On October 3, 1995, static fluid levels were measured in monitoring wells MWi through
MW6. The water table elevation decreased an average of 1.41 feet since June 28, 1995.
Table 1 summarizes the water level data collected during the reporting period and provides
previous data for comparison.
A groundwater gradient map was created for the October 3, 1995 monitoring event (Figure 2)
using groundwater elevation data from all the wells monitored. Figure 2 depicts a
groundwater gradient of approximately 0.018 ft/ft (96 ft/mile) with a northwesterly
groundwater flow direction toward MW2.
Floating petroleum product was observed in well MW4 on August 11 and October 3, 1995.
Approximately 4.5 liters and 2.8 liters of free product were recovered from the well on August
11 and October 3, respectively. Table 2 summarizes the product thickness measurements and
volume of product removed from previous monitoring events. All bailed product has been
stored in a DOT approved double containment drum pending appropriate disposal.
r3 943691QRTEI2LY\3QMR1995.doc 1
1260 Graphics Drive Modesto,CA 95351-1502 .(209)579-2221 Fax(209)579-2225
Engineering Consulting Remediation Construction
