He called to inform us that a file retriev- <br /> al charge of, at a minimum of $78, would be charged and that <br /> your office would not be able to provide the files for review <br /> for at least one month. <br /> While we understand that your office is overworked, we <br /> believe the charge is excessive and the proposed time delay to <br /> be unlawful. Attached is an executed written request for <br /> public files . An agency must determine within ten days after <br /> the receipt of such request whether to comply with the request <br /> and onl)r in unusual circumstances may the time limit be extend- <br /> ed for a maximun of ten days by written notice, of the head of <br /> the agency to the person making the request. Government Code <br /> section 62.56 and 6256. 1 . we are somewhat dismaved that from <br /> the outset you have indicated that the records will not be made <br /> available in a timely fashion when we are willing to make our <br /> own copies of the records.
