Mr. Mark Lewis, Esq.
March 4, 2004
Page 4
• The following sample locations were not identified for excavation but contained
the contaminant identified in parentheses above their respective Remedial Action
Objective in the Final RAP in the respective Tables: Table 3, 106-2 (Arsenic at
25 mg/kg, 1 foot bgs); Table Al, TR-1 (TPH as Motor Oil at 3,100 mg/kg, 3 feet
bgs); and Table Al, TR-9 (TPH as Motor Oil at 2,200 mg/kg, 3 feet bgs). Please
include these locations in Figure 3.
• Sample location TR-3 is identified for excavation to 4 feet bgs due to arsenic.
Tables Al and 4 of the Final RAP identified sample TR-3 containing lead (Pb) at
930 mg/kg, 3 feet bgs (Table Al of the Final RAP also identified TPH as Motor
Oil at 3,300 mg/kg, 3 feet bgs), but no exceedance of the arsenic cleanup level.
Please clarify the contaminant(s) subject to cleanup at this location.
• Sample location TR-5 is identified for excavation due to lead but does not identify
TPH. Table Al of the Final RAP identifies TPH as Motor Oil at.1,600 mg/kg, 3
feet bgs. Include this contaminant at this location in Figure 3.
Area 15
Please note that sample location 156-9 had detection limits above the cleanup
goals for TPH Motor Oil and Diesel. DTSC also noted that this same sample
location contained TPH as Gasoline at 8,500 mg/kg at 15 feet bgs. Please
address or include this area for cleanup.
Please submit a Final RDIP which addresses the above, and enclosed, comments by
March 24, 2004.
If you have any questions regarding the above comments, please contact me at
(916) 255-3744 or by email at Jlileadtsc.ca.gov.
Sincerely,
JerryL e
Project Manager
Enclosure
cc: See next page.
