Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
Subject: Transmittal of analytical data from contamination
evaluation study, Crystal Cream and Butter Co. ,
404 W. Fremont St. , Stockton, California.
Dear Ms. Cotulla:
Atthe request of RAMCON, acting agent for Crystal: Creamery and
Butter Company, we are submitting this report of the chemical
data obtained during our subsurface study at the above-referenced
Crystal Cream and Butter Company site. This work had been
outlined in our proposal dated October 10, 1986.
Applied GeoSystems was present on site on October 29, 1986 to
perform drilling operations as proposed. Drilling was performed
by Datum Exploration of Pittsburg, California. Two borings were
drilled. The first boring (S-1) was drilled approximately
fifteen feet to the east of the tank excavation, as close to the
excavation as possible given safety limitations created by
overhead power lines. Total depth of the boring was 21.5 feet,
which corresponds to the first sample taken below the ground
water surface. Ground water was encountered at a depth of
approximately 16.3 feet. No subjective evidence of contamination
was noted, and the .boring was backfilled with neat cement.
The, second boring, B-2, was drilled approximately six feet ,;:o the
north of the excavation to a total depth of 38.5 feet, or
approximately 20 feet below the ground water surface. Slight to
moderate odor was noted in samples taken at depths of 15 and 20
feet. Monitoring well MW-1 was installed in this boring using
two inch inner diameter PVC casing. The well was constructed
.. ... ... . . . with_thread-jointed,- 0.020...in:h.machine-slot-".gid-.casing..between- 37
and 7 feet, with blank casing to the ground::-surface. No chemical
cements or solvents were used in well construction. The annular
space was filled with sand from total depth to five.feet below
