i
rk 404 WEST FREMONT STREET
WKA No. 1628.02
September 2, 1994
Page 7
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on review of past work at the site and findings from our present investigation, soil and
Fii
ground water contamination are present beneath the site. The lateral extent of the gasoline
contamination in soils appears to be limited to the immediate vicinity of the former UST.
F, Gasoline contaminated soils have been detected at a depth of 18 feet below grade beneath the
former tank, and likely extends vertically to ground water, based on the floating hydrocarbons
Fobserved in well MW-1, and the fact that well MW-1 is downgradient from the former tank.
Gasoline contamination in ground water continues to appear concentrated to the north, west, and
east of the former UST based on elevated concentrations of TPH-g and BTEX in samples from
wells MW1, MW3, MW4, MW5, and MW6. Ground water contamination to the southeast of
F n lack of detectable concentrations of TPH- in
the former UST appears minimal based o the acg
samples collected from well MW2 during the last two quarterly sampling events. The northerly
F ground water flow beneath the site suggests that any southerly migration of petroleum
Fhydrocarbons in ground water has been minimal.
i
Based on a lack of ground water data south of the former tank, we propose obtaining a water
F] sample from the well immediately adjacent to the southern property boundary, located on the City
of Stockton property. If permission is not granted to sample this well, we recommend installing
F" one additional well along the southern boundary.
We recommend continued ground water monitoring on a quarterly basis, to further evaluate
ground water movement beneath the site and adjacent properties. Data gathered during
monitoring well assist in evaluating the influence tidal and seasonal ground water fluctuations
khave on ground water and contaminant movement beneath the site.
r., Once sufficient data is collected regarding ground water flow direction and the extent of ground
water contamination, we recommend that ground water aquifer testing be conducted. The goal of
I aquifer testing is to obtain sufficient information to design an appropriate efficient remediation
System.
INK
€ WALLACE•KUHL
Recyeledpgp &ASSOCIATES INC.
 i
