4?'
15 May 2000
AGE-NC Project No 95-0167
1 Page 4 of 5
' 5.0. FINDINGS
5 1 GROUND WATER ELEVATION, FLOW DM-ECTION AND GRADIENT
' The ground water elevation in each well was calculated by subtracting the depth to ground water
from the surveyed casing elevations The depths to ground water and relative ground water
' elevations are tabulated in Table I
The depth to ground water ranged from 14 18 feet below the well casing (bwc) in MW-2 to 13 88
1 feet bwc in MW-1 The ground water elevation at the site ranged from -4 89 feet below mean sea
level (ms]) in MW-3 to -5 09 feet msl in MW-2 The ground water gradient was approximately
0 0025 or 13 feet per mile, over the distance from the up gradient well (MW-3) to the east edge of
' the site (MW-2) The ground water elevation isocontours are depleted in Figure 3
52 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
1• TPH-g was detected in samples collected from monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-2 at concentrations
of 18,000 micrograms per liter (µg/1) and 3,000 yg/l, respectively TPH-g was not detected in
samples MW-3 and MW-4
' Benzene was only detected in samples collected from wells MW-1 and MW-2 at concentrations of
3,100 kcg/l, and 340µg/l,respectively Other BTEX compounds were detected in all water samples
at maximum concentrations of 16,000 f..cg/l MTBE was detected by EPA Method 8260-modified in
samples collected from wells MW-1 and MW-2 at concentrations of 61 µg/1 and 9 6 ug/l,
respectively No other fuel oxygenates were detected in any of the samples
' Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized in Table 2 and Table 3 The laboratory
report (MAI Laboratory Sample No 30988 to 30991), QA/QC report and cham-off custody form are
' included in Appendix B
' 6 0 SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Data collected at the site indicates that
' • Theground water flow direction inferred from data collected during this monitoring event
t
is toward the east
• Relatively high concentrations of TPH-g and BTEX occur in ground water to the area of
monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-2
i
1
