Unfortunately, there is some confusion in the
use of the designation "Method 8015" when used for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons
(TPH). Many laboratories are using that designation when they should be using "LUFT
Manual Method". Some laboratories are even using the term "Modified 8015". Some of
this problem is historic as methods have changed over the years and the clarity has been !
lost.
Method 8020 for BTEX is correct, and Sparger is certified for it. They are also certified
for TPH (L'UFT Method). They are not certified for Method 8015 which covers a variety
of volatile compounds. We will contact the laboratory to change their report forms to
reflect current correct usage. If you have any further inquiries, please contact Aida
Dente, our senior auditor, or me, at 510-540-2800.
I
Sincerely,
Theodore Belsky, Ph.D.
Quality Assurance Section Chief
Environmental Laboratory
Accreditation Program
i2
