Division has reviewed the
May 3, 1995 "Fourth Quarter Groundwater Monitoring Report" prepared by William J. Hunter
and Associates for the above referenced site.
The report tabulates monitoring well analyses, indicates groundwater gradient to date, and
concludes that the downgradient portion of the plume and the remaining soil contamination has
not been fully characterized at this time.
The report recommends that quarterly sampling of the upgradient wells be discontinued. The
report recommends obtaining soil and ground water samples from several shallow soil borings
to estimate the lateral extent of the remaining soil contamination and the downgradient extent
of the groundwater plume.
PHS/EHD recommends that a workplan describing boring locations in the downgradient portion
of the plume and around the former UST location be submitted. The installation of a
downgradient monitoring well shall be included as part of this workplan. The workplan should
indicate that the soil investigation will result in the assessment of the remaining soil
contamination for remediation.
The two upgradient monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-3 may be sampled for analysis every other
quarter. Monitoring well MW-2 shall be sampled quarterly. Water level shall be measured in
every monitoring well quarterly. This schedule is granted at your request and may be changed
as needed by PHS/EHD to aid in the remediation of this site.
PHS/EHD grants an extension to June 15, 1995 for submittal of a workplan describing
additional investigation of the downgradient portion of the groundwater plume, the lateral extent
of the remaining soil contamination, and the installation of a downgradient monitoring well.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
